Learning Intentions:
- Mae’r gweithgaredd yma’n rhoi’r cyfle i’ch plentyn ddatblygu sawl sgil gan gynnwys mesur gydag unedau ansafonol, dilyn cyfarwyddiadau, ymholi ac archwilio am ein byd gorffennol.
- This activity will allow your child to develop several skills such as measuring using non-standard units; following instructions and enquiring and exploring the world’s past.
Step 1: Introduction for parents and carers
Mae’r stori ar ddechrau’r dudalen yn sôn am deulu o ddinosoriaid ac yn cynnwys amrywiaeth o rywogaethau dinosoriaid. Tybed allwch chi gofio unrhyw fath o ddinosor sy’n cael ei rhestri yn y stori? Wrth gwrs, does dim dinosoriaid ar gael rhagor, er mae gwyddonwyr dal i’w ymchwilio heddiw wrth ddarganfod ffosilau o dan y Ddaear. Mae’r gweithgaredd yma’n rhoi’r cyfle i’ch plentyn fynd ati i greu ffosilau ei hunain gan ddefnyddio toes halen.
The story posted at the top of this page is about a family of dinosaurs. Throughout the book there is mention of different species of dinosaurs, I wonder if you can remember any that were mentioned? Of course, dinosaurs no longer exist as part of our living world, however scientists still conduct research to discover more about them and continue to discover fossils underground. This activity gives your child the opportunity to create their own fossils using salt dough.
Mae’r fideo isod yn dangos sut mae creu toes halen gan ddefnyddio mesuriadau ansafonol. Er gwybodaeth, mae’r cyfarwyddiadau coginio yn sôn am radd Fahrenheit. Os nad oes teganau dinosoriaid gennych, croeso i chi geisio creu asgwrn dinosoriaid. Mae gwybodaeth am ffosilau dinosoriaid ar gael o fewn y fideo Ffosiliau Dinosoriaid / Dinosaur Fossils o dan y bocs ‘Useful Online Resources’.
The video below shows you and your child how to create salt dough using non-standard units of measuring. For your information, the cooking instructions are in degrees Fahrenheit, just to be mindful when it comes to the settings for your own oven. If you do not have any dinosaur toys at your home, then you could attempt to create dinosaur bones with the salt dough. There’s information available in the video ‘Ffosiliau Deinosoriaid / Dinosaur Fossils’ under the ‘Useful Online Resources’ area.

Step 3: Follow up activity for you to do with your child!
- Gwrandewch ar y stori ’10 Deinosor Bach’, pa rywogaethau deinosor sy’n cael eu rhestri? / Listen to the story ’10 Deinosor Bach’, what different species of dinosaur are mentioned?
- Dilynwch y rysáit i greu toes halen ac yna modelwch i greu ffosiliau dinosor, naill ai gyda theganau neu gyda dwylo rhydd / Follow the recipe to create salt dough and model to create dinosaur fossils, wither with toys or free hand.
- Edrychwch ar ddolen; The Dino Directory, ydych chi’n adnabod unrhyw un o’r dinosoriaid? Beth yw eich hoff ddinosor? Pam? / Take a look at The Dino Directory link above, do you recognise any of these species of dinosaurs? Which is your favourite? Why?
- Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or upload it to any of the available places below.
