Learning Intentions:
- I can count to 5 in Welsh (Nursery) I can count to 10 in Welsh (Reception)
- I can answer the question ‘Pa rif?’ in Welsh.
- I can count out the correct number of buttons to match the number written on each Gingerbread Man.
- I can answer the question ‘Sawl botwm?’ in Welsh.
The main activity is to be completed offline. This activity is designed to be completed with an adult or older sibling. Children will need support with cutting out Gingerbread Men and writing numbers on each one.For this activity you will need your numbered Gingerbread Men and small buttons, sequins, pom poms or mini smarties.
During this activity children will need to know their numbers to 5 in Welsh in Nursery or to 10 in Welsh in Reception. They will need to respond to two questions.
- Pa rif? – What’s the number?
- Sawl botwm? How many buttons?
The optional task is an online activity. Encourage children to use their Welsh when playing the online game. This will reinforce their learning.
Today we are going to learn to count in Welsh. We are going to name numbers in Welsh and count out buttons for each numbered Gingerbread Man.
Begin by watching the ‘cyfri’ introduction video.
Before we begin the main activity, join in with the chorus of the counting song below by singing the numbers in Welsh.
Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity
- Get an adult to hold up each numbered Gingerbread Man and ask you the question ‘Pa rif?’. Can you answer by saying the number in Welsh?
- Place the correct number of buttons to match the number on each Gingerbread Man by counting them out in Welsh. Get an adult to ask you ‘Sawl botwm?’ Can you answer by saying the correct number in Welsh?
Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 6.
