- To be able to count reliably to 7.
- To know some number bonds to 7.
Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils
This week is all about the number seven.
There is an instructional video (approximately six minutes long) that introduces the learning for the week and includes the first activity.
There is also a short audio song for your child to listen to as part of the first day activity and a further short video clip (approximately two minutes) to support activity four.
It is recommended that each activity is completed on different days during the week.
Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information
Our number of the week is seven.
Let’s start by listening to and join in with the number song. Practise writing number 7 using different materials.

- Complete the number 7 challenge using 7 of your favourite toys.
Activity 2
Look at the picture ‘Seven Little Pebbles’ below.
Can you find:
- The numeral for seven?
- The Numicon shape for seven? What colour is it?
- The number on the number line? Describe where it is, e.g. after 6/before 8
- Count forwards and backwards from 1-7 and 7-1.
- Show 0 on fingers, 5 on fingers and 7 on fingers. Talk about how 5 and 2 make 7
Activity 3
- How many pebbles can you see? Touch each one as you count them and show on fingers.
- Discuss how the pebbles are arranged
- Discuss the shape of the pebbles. Are they all the same?
- Make the shape of the numeral seven using different small resources like buttons, bottle tops, pebbles. Count backwards starting with different numbers.

Can you create a 7 exercise routine?
- You could do exercise for 7 minutes
or
- use 7 different exercises
or
- perform a move 7 times.
Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.
Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:
Success criteria #1: I can recognise the number 7.
Success criteria #2: I can count 7 objects.
Success criteria #3: I can add two numbers together to make 7.
