In this activity there are two videos (approximately four minutes in total).The main activities can be completed offline and over a few days.

Start this activity by watching and listening to the story, ‘Whatever Next’! by Jill Murphy on the link below:
Talk about the story with your child:
- Where did Baby Bear want to go?
- What did Baby Bear find in the cupboard?
- What did Baby Bear use for space boots?
- Who did Baby Bear take on his adventure?
- Who did Baby Bear meet on his adventure?
- What did Baby Bear, Teddy and Owl have on the moon?
- Do you think Mrs Bear believed Baby Bear?
Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity
Activity 1 – Draw a rocket
- Draw a rocket and the moon.
- Try and write the first letter of each word. (r and m)
or
- Make a rocket from a cardboard tube and decorate with crayons and strips of paper for the flames using Sellotape or glue.
Activity 2 – Imaginary picnic on the moon
- Using a box or large toy imagine it is your rocket.
- Go on an adventure to the moon with a few toys.
- Put a blanket or large towel on the carpet and place your chosen toys around the edge in a circle.
- Have a pretend picnic with your toys.
- Talk to your toys about your adventure in getting to the ‘moon’. Who did you meet on the way?
- Perhaps you can go on different adventures in your imaginary rocket.
Activity 3 – Counting backwards
Watch the video below (approximately two minutes) and get your child to join in counting backwards from 10.
After the video is finished see how many numbers 1–10 your child can write.
Help your child form the numbers correctly.
Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 6.

Success criteria #1: I can listen to and follow a story.
Success criteria #2: I can use my imagination.
Success criteria #3: I can count backwards from 10 and write some numbers.
Look at the learning intentions ‘how well do you think you have done?’
Step 5: Extension and follow on activities/challenges (optional)
Activity 4 – Number Extend the number activity by using rockets and space:
- Draw two rockets and write 2.
- Draw four planets and write 4.
- Draw 7 stars and write 7 etc.
