Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils
This practical activity can be carried out either indoors or out in the garden. There is a one page information sheet to support the activity. There is a short video approximately three minutes long.
This activity can be repeated several times during the week.
Resources:
- A dice
Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information
Let’s start with a warm up activity. Click on the link below and join in with the actions as you sing along with Mr Tumble.
Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity
Activity 1:
In this activity you are going to put together some simple movements into a sequence.
Look at the picture below. You will see that for each number on the dice there is a suggested exercise move.
Step 1 – Roll the dice.
- What number does it show?
- Look at the list of exercises, which exercise matches the number on the dice.
Step 2 – Roll the dice again.
- What number does the dice show? This is how many times you need to repeat this exercise. For example three jumps or running on the spot for the count of three.
Step 3 – Repeat steps one and two a few times to make up a short sequence of movements, e.g. two jumps, five skips, four squats, 1 stretch
How many different exercise patterns can you make up?
You could change the movement that you do for each number on the dice.
Most of all have fun.
Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.
Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:
Success criteria #1: I can recognise the numbers on a dice.
Success criteria #2: I can join a series of movements together.
Look at the learning intentions ‘how well do you think you have done?’
