Lesson by Jo Hinds

Learning Intentions:

  • To draw and describe a favourite animal.
  • To listen in and join in with some music.
  • To move like some animals.

Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils

In this activity there is a story/song approximately six minutes long, to support the learning. The activities can be completed offline and on different days.

Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information

Start by watching the interactive story below to get moving, joining in and having fun. It names lots of familiar wild animals whilst you are dancing along.

Get dancing. Join in with ‘The Animal Boogie’.

What animals were in the song?

Which animals were your favourite?

Did you enjoy the song? Why?

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1

Can you draw your favourite animal and write a sentence(S) to describe it?

 Activity 2

Watch the video again:

Can you move like the animals?

Can you create your own animal dance?

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.
