In this activity there is a story/song about different farm animals and things you can do on a farm. The story/song encourages singing and movement.

The main activities can be completed offline and on different days.

On-the-farm-singing-and-movement-activity-1-1

Sing the song story again including and creating movements for each farm animal.

  • Can you use a range of tall and small movements?
  • Can you use balancing, jumping, hopping or skipping movements?
  • Can you teach your movements to your family?

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1

Learn the song story with a grown up.

  • What animals are in the story?
  • What did the children do on the farm?
  • What different actions can you add for each animal? (galloping for a horse, waddling for a duck)
  • With the music perform the song story with your actions.

 Activity 2

Junk model farm animals

Oh no! The farmer’s animals have escaped. Can you create a farm animal model using different materials?

Your model can be made using:

  • recyclable/ natural materials (milk cartons, yoghurt pots, carboard etc.)
  • pens, crayons, coloured pencils or paint to draw or paint patterns
  • coloured paper.

 Activity 3

Musical instruments

Make your own musical instruments to create the sound each animal makes. You can make your instrument using recyclable materials. e.g. plastic bottle shakers with dried pasta or peas etc.

Have fun performing the song again with your animal actions and the instruments to recreate the animal noises.

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.
