  • To count in twos.
  • To create a colourful rainbow.
  • To begin to understand the value ‘Hope’

Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils

In this activity there is a twelve page PowerPoint story to read and an optional video to view online.

The main activities can be completed offline and on different days.

Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information

The story of Noah’s Ark is a great story to develop the understanding of ‘Hope’. It also provides messages of the importance of looking after each other, our environment and new beginnings; as well as counting in twos, naming and caring for wild animals. Start by reading the story of Noah’s Ark below:

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity 

Activity 1 – counting in twos

All the animals went into the Ark in 2s.

Can you count in 2s?

Start at 2 (2 4, 6 8 10) or Start at 1 (1 3 5 7 9).

Look around your home what can you find in 2s?

Choose one of the animals and draw two of them (they have to be the same such as two tigers or two doves or two goats etc.

Activity 2 – make or draw a rainbow

Choose how you are going to create or draw your rainbow; below are some examples of what you can use:

  • different coloured scraps of material or
  • coloured paper or using
  • coloured crayon and pencils

Activity 3

The story highlights the value of ‘hope’ and how Noah took the animals into the Ark in twos.

Draw a picture of the Ark, Noah and his family and some of the animals.

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.

Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:

Success criteria #1:  I can count in twos.

Success criteria #2:  I can make a colourful rainbow.

Success criteria #3:  I am starting to understand the value of ‘Hope’.

Look at the learning intentions ‘how well do you think you have done?’
