Lesson by Jo Hinds
Learning Intentions:
- To develop an understanding of opposites
Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils
In this activity there is a video (approximately three minutes) which will help your child develop their understanding of opposites.
The main activity can be completed offline. There is a slide with some useful resources which can be printed, or you can use the example to make your own. The main activities will need some adult support.
To help your child to develop their language skills these games can be played over several days choosing a different game each day. Short regular bursts of learning are most effective.
Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information
Let’s start by watching the video ‘Outdoor Opposites’ by Brenda Williams, Rachel Oldfield and The Flannery Brothers.
- Look out for the opposites while watching.

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.
Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:
Success criteria #1: I can name opposites.
