Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils
This activity will need adult support throughout.
There is a short three minute introductory video to support the learning.
The main activities can be completed offline.
Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information
This activity is about helping your child to develop positional language. Watch the video below together and talk about where the child in the video found the things for her picnic.
Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity
Activity 1
Ask your child to choose a favourite toy. e.g teddy
Now ask you child some question about placing their favourite toy using the language from the video.
Below are some examples:
- Can you put your teddy on the chair?
- Can you put your teddy under the chair?
- Can you put your teddy in the cupboard?
- Can you put your teddy next to the bed?
- Can you put your teddy in front of the television?
- Can you put your teddy behind you?
- Can you put the teddy between us?
Activity 2 – Draw a picture following instructions.
Draw a house with four windows, a roof and a door.
Can you now draw the following in the right place?
- A tree next to the house
- A cat in front of the door
- A bird on the roof
- A face peeping out from behind the tree
- A sun above the house
Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.
Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:
Success criteria #1: I understand some positional language.
Success criteria #2: I can follow positional instructions.
Look at the learning intentions ‘how well do you think you have done?’
