Lesson by Catrin Phillips

Learning Intentions:

  • To role-play buying and selling items at the beach shop.

Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils

This activity is a follow up to last week’s activity where we looked at how to ask for items and reply. In this activity we will look at an example of Fflic and Fflac role-playing a short conversation at the beach shop. Your task is to create a beach shop and to role-play buying and selling items in Welsh using simple phrases.

Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information

Gwyliwch y fideo.

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Collect items from around your house to create a beach shop.

Remind yourself of the names of the items and how to use the question “Ga i ___ os gwelwch yn dda?’ and the answer “Cei, dyma ti.”. Look at the script example in the file below and begin to practise buying and selling items at your shop.

Siopa m-a-d

When you’re confident, record yourselves role-playing at the shop. Don’t forget to swap roles too in order to practise more language.

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 6.

Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:

Success criteria #1:  I can use ‘Ga i ___ os gwelwch yn dda?’ to ask for an item.

Success criteria #2:  I can use ‘Cei, dyma ti’ to answer when someone asks me for an item.

Success criteria #3:  I can assume a role during role play.

Look at the learning intentions ‘how well do you think you have done?’

Step 5: Extension and follow on activities/challenges (optional)

  • How about making a snack shop menu so that you can practise asking and answering for items during your day at home?
