Lesson by Lucy Schmidt

Learning Intentions:

  • Pupils will revise feelings in Welsh.

Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils

Pupils will need to create an obstacle course in an outdoor space. The activity can be done without the use of ICT. Pupils will need to answer a series of questions before being allowed to move on to the next section of their course.

Equipment needed: Plastic cup filled with water. A timer.

Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information

Take a look at some examples of obstacle courses which you could create in your outdoor space.

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

  1. Create your own obstacle course outside or inside. Use different items that you have around the garden to create your own obstacle course.
  2. In the obstacle course you will need between 3/5 different points/positions for your child to stop at to complete a language task.
  3. Select one of the questions for your child to answer at the stop point. They must answer the question in Welsh before they are able move on to the next part of the course.
  4. They must carry the water carefully the aim is to keep as much water in the cup as possible until the end. Try not to spill any! The person with the most water left in their cup and shortest time at the end wins!

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.

Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:

Success criteria #1:  I can recall feelings in Welsh.
