Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils

This is a well-read story book is highly engaging and has a sense of anticipation. It introduces woodland animals and their homes and promotes discussion around favourite foods. It also shows the bravery of the mouse woven through which allows for discussion around feelings.

Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information

Enjoy watching the story of “The Gruffalo”. Listen carefully for the rhyming words and words that are repeated. Who do you think was the bravest character?

 

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1

All the animals lived in a different home. Some underground. Some in the air.

  • Choose your favourite animal, where do they live, what is their home called?
  • Draw a picture of your animal in their home and write a sentence(s) about your picture.

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.

 

Step 4: Extension and follow on activities/challenges (optional)

 Activity 2On hwb use JIT to create your own Gruffalo type story? Maybe even create a whole new character?
