Learning Intentions:
- To follow a recipe to make Gruffalo Paw biscuits
Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils
This is a cooking activity that will need to be supervised by an adult.
There is a short video story to help set the scene for this activity. (Approximately seven minutes) If your child knows the story of the Gruffalo well then you may choose to go straight to the activity
Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information
Today we are going to make some Gruffalo paw biscuits. But before we start let’s remind ourselves what the Gruffalo looks like by listening to the story ‘The Gruffalo’ by Julia Donaldson Click on the link below.
Did you have a good look at the Gruffalo’s paws. I hope so because you are now going to make some Gruffalo paw biscuits like the ones below.
Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity
Activity 1 – Gruffalo paw biscuits
Requires adult support
Follow the recipe below to make your Gruffalo paw biscuits. This activity is about cooking together, with your child doing as much as possible with your support.
- Help your child to weigh out the ingredients.
- Allow them to mix the ingredients together and roll out some of the dough. They can cut out the shapes and add the claws.
- WARNING – The adult must put the biscuits into the oven and take them out when they are cooked.
- Take care because the tray and biscuits will be hot when they first come out of the oven.
When your biscuits are cooled enjoy eating a biscuit perhaps with a glass of milk.
