Today we are going to make a strawberry layer cake.

 

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1 – Making a strawberry layer cake

Requires adult support

Follow the recipe below to make your layer cake. This activity is about cooking together, with your child doing as much as possible with your support.

Gather together all the equipment and ingredients that you will need.

 

Equipment Ingredients
Large mixing bowl

Kitchen scales

Fork

Teaspoon

Knife

Spatula/Pallet knife

Two sandwich cake tins

Baking parchment

Margarine

Caster sugar

Self-raising flour

Eggs

Double cream

Fresh strawberries

 

  • First and most importantly wash your hands
  • Help your child to weigh out all the ingredients.
  • Follow the recipe to make the layer cake.
  • Allow them to mix the ingredients together, put the mixture into the tins etc.
  • WARNING – The adult must put the cakes into the oven and take them out when they are cooked.
  • Take care because the cakes will be hot when they first come out of the oven. An adult should also turn the cakes out onto the cooling rake as they will be hot.
  • Don’t forget to get your child to help clear and wash up.

Enjoy a cake with a glass of milk in the company of your teddies or toys and share your cake with your family.

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.
