Talk about the things that you saw in the video. Do you have a favourite part?
It is important to remember that although we may not be able to meet with our friends at the moment, and we may have to keep out distance from people when we go out for our daily walk. We can still smile at people we pass when out on our walk. We can also be kind to the people we live with, and spend time talking and sharing together.
Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity
Activity 1 – Recycling Monster
- Sort your recycling into plastic, paper, card, tin cans, foil etc.
- Is there any other way you can sort it?
- Select some of the recycled items to use to make your mascot. Check with an adult to make sure that the items that you want to use are safe.
- Using your recycled items. Design and make a recycled mascot for your home.
- What will you call your recycled mascot?
Activity 2 – Recycling poster
Make a poster to encourage everyone in your house to recycle.
Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 6.
Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:
Success criteria #1: I can sort recycled materials into sets.
Success criteria #2: I can design a poster.
Success criteria #3: I can use my imagination to help me create a recycled mascot.
Look at the learning intentions ‘how well do you think you have done?’
Step 5: Extension and follow on activities/challenges (optional)
Activity 3 – Writing a letter
In the story the children were writing letters. Write a letter to a member of your family. Tell them what you’ve been doing. Don’t forget to put your address on it and start “Dear …..”.
You will need to find out their address and postcode. You will need a stamp and an envelope.
Once you’ve addressed it you can look carefully for a post-box on your daily walk.
Fingers crossed you will get a reply.
