Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information

Start by watching Percy the Park Keeper, The Rescue Party by Nick Butterworth on the link below:

Talk about the story:

  • Who are the main characters?
  • What happened to one of the rabbits?
  • Was it a happy ending?
  • Did you like the story? Why?
  • Can you name the different animal friends Percy had:
    • Rabbit
    • Badger
    • Fox
    • Owl
    • Mole
    • Dormouse
    • Goose

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1

  • Make up your own rescue party using Percy’s friends as a guide.
  • There needs to be twenty (20) animals in the rescue party, for example seven rabbits, one fox, three owls, six squirrels, two moles and one goose.
  • Draw your rescue party making sure all the animals add up to twenty (20)
  • Remember to use different animals and write the correct number next to the different groups of animals.

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.

Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity: 

Success criteria #1:  I can follow a story.

Success criteria #2:  I can solve a number problem.

Success criteria #3:  I can show my workings out in a picture.
