Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils
This is part 1 of 2 sessions linked to Deio’s journey.
In this activity there are two PowerPoint presentations with audio facility to support your child with the reading aspect and encourage listening skills.
There is a map of Pembrokeshire which can be printed out, if you do not have a printer your child will need to make notes while listening to the PowerPoint.
There is also a comprehension quiz that can be completed either online or using the questions in the attachment.
Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information
I love visiting places. Do you? Deio the dragon enjoys exploring too and last summer, he visited different places in Pembrokeshire. He wanted to tell you about it so here is his letter. You will need to listen carefully to find out which places Deio visited and answer a few questions at the end.
- Look at the map of Pembrokeshire and print a copy if you can. If you are unable to print you will need to make notes of the places Deio visits.
- Listening to Deio’s journey around Pembrokeshire by watching the PowerPoint below. Use the map to plot his journey by using numbers to show the order Deio visited different places or make notes to help you remember the order.
You might find that Deio has visited places near you or places that you have visited.

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity
Activity 1 – Comprehension
Listen to the PowerPoint below ‘Deio’s Journey task 2’, which will read the letter again but this time, it will also show you pictures of some the things that Deio has seen. Once again, you will practise your listening skills as Deio has made a quiz for you to complete at the end (Comprehension Questions word document or Kahoot).
Now answer the quiz below. You can either do this online by clicking on the link or complete it offline using the attachment.

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 6.
