Learning Intentions:
- To learn about ladybirds.
- To create a fact file.
Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils
In this activity there is a video about ladybirds (approximately two minutes). Your child will need to undertake some further research and make notes.
The main activity can be completed on or offline.
Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information
Have you seen any tiny, little ladybirds? They are such beautiful little minibeasts, but they are so tiny you must keep a special eye out for them.
- Where do you think they like to hide?
- Where do we usually see them?
- Do they all look the same?
Watch this video clip all about ladybirds and find out just how amazing these tiny minibeasts are.
Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity Activity 1 – Fact file
Create a fact file all about ladybirds. You will need to do some research about ladybirds. Below is a page of facts for you to use. Ask a grown up to read this with you.
In your fact file you will need to include a title, subheadings, information about ladybirds, interesting facts and picture/s.
- What do ladybirds look like?
- What do ladybirds eat?
- Where can you find ladybirds?
- You could write this on paper, make a little book or even try and complete your work on JIT Mix
Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 6.
Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:
Success criteria #1: I know facts about ladybirds.
