Learning Intentions:

  • To know what a pixel is.
  • To create pixel art.

Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils

In this activity there are two video clips approximately six minutes in total.

This activity can be completed on or offline.

For offline you will either need to print a copy of the attached template or use square paper.

Now that you know what a pixel is, the video below will show you how to create a pixel picture using Microsoft Excel which is free on HWB (Office 365)

Below are some examples of pixel art that have been created to thank NHS workers.

 

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1

  • If you are creating this online you will first need to log into Hwb and open an Excel spreadsheet to create your pixel art.
  • If you are completing this offline either print off the template or use squared paper to create your pixel art.

If you are finding it difficult start with a rainbow or writing ‘Diolch’.

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.

 

Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:

Success criteria #1:  I know what a pixel is.

Success criteria #2:  I can create pixel art using a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or squared paper.
