Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information

Today you are going to make some butterfly cupcakes. Let’s start by finding out a little bit about the history of the cupcake by watching a short clip from the Great British Bake Off. Click on the link below. 

Now you know the history of the cupcake you are now going to make your own. The cakes you are going to make are called butterfly cakes, as the top of the cake looks like a butterfly is sitting on it.

 

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1

How to make butterfly cupcakes. This recipe will make 12 butterfly cupcakes

Equipment Ingredients
A large mixing bowl Margarine
Kitchen scales Caster sugar
Fork Self-raising flour
Dessert spoon Cocoa powder
Spatula Eggs
Bun tin Butter
Optional – Piping bag, nozzle and tall glass Icing sugar

Before you start remember to wash your hands.

Make sure you have gathered together your equipment and ingredients.

Now follow the recipe.

Don’t forget to make sure you wash up when you have finished cooking and put away any equipment you have used.

Now enjoy eating your cakes and sharing them with your family.

 

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.
