  • To find some information about rivers.
  • To convert metres into kilometres.
  • To present findings in a table.

Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils

This activity requires some online research a link has been provided.

Once the research has been completed and note taken the main activity can be offline.

Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information

In the session you will research rivers and present your findings in a table.

You will need to record how long they are and countries that they run through.

You will be converting metres to kilometres. Remember that there are 1000 metres to a Kilometre.

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1

  • Draw a table to record your information about rivers. Example below.
River Name River distance (M) River distance (KM) Countries the river passes through

Choose ten of the rivers from the link below.

 List of rivers

  • Complete your table
  • Which river from your list is the longest?
  • Which river from your list is the shortest?
  • Which river travels through the most countries?
  • Do any of your rivers run through a rain forest?

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.

 

Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:

Success criteria #1:  I can find information about some rivers.

Success criteria #2:  I can convert meters to kilometres.

Success criteria #3:  I can present findings in a table.
