Learning Intentions:
- To use the feature of a newspaper report to write a newspaper article.
- To find out about Neil Armstrong.
Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils
Today your child will be looking at an historical event to help them write a newspaper report.
There are three short videos to watch approximately seven minutes in total.
The main activity can be completed on or offline.
Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information
We are going to watch a short video about Neil Armstrong and the Apollo 11 moon landing. You will use this information later to write your own short newspaper report about the moon landing.
Now watch this short clip of Neil Armstrong taking his first steps onto the moon. Remember these pictures were taken in 1969 and are in black and white and it is difficult to see clearly what is happening. Listen carefully to what Neil Armstrong says as he steps onto the moon.
Before writing our newspaper, article let’s remind ourselves what makes a good newspaper report.
