Learning Intentions:

  • To be able to write / present the history of the car.
  • To be able to demonstrate an understanding of time.
  • To be able to select and draw a car from a specific period of time.

There is a fact sheet on cars through the ages that your child will need to read and make notes. Further research will be optional.

There is an eight slide PowerPoint showing pictures of cars from the beginning to the present day.

The activities can be completed offline.

The activities can be completed on different days.

Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information

Start this activity by reading through and making notes about the cars / automobiles through the ages on the link below: Car facts

Now look at pictures of some cars through the different ages in the PowerPoint below:

  • What did you find out?
  • Which car was your favourite and why?
  • Are you interested in cars? If so what aspects?
  • Do you prefer older models or the newer models of cars and why?

 

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1 – History of the car

Choose how you are going to present your work.

Using your notes and any additional research write a brief history of the car.

Activity 2

Choose one of the options below:

Draw a car from a specific period remember to say at what point in history that car was used and why you have chosen it.

or

What do you think cars will be like in fifty years time? Draw and label a car of the future.

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.

 

Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:

Success criteria #1:  I can draw a picture of a car from a specific period of time.

Success criteria #2:  I can share knowledge on cars through the ages.

Success criteria #3:  I can write an accurate account of cars through the ages.
