Learning Intentions:

To research the different forms of renewable energy.

Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils

Today we are going to find out about different types of renewable energy and why it is important. Once we have done some research, we are going to use the information to create an informative poster about one form of renewable energy type.To complete this activity, you will need to have access to a laptop, iPad, smart phone or similar device for the research. Once you have done the research you should be able to complete the task offline.

Read through the PowerPoint presentation below on renewable energy.

As you go through the PowerPoint make some notes to help you later.

You might want to use the questions below to help you.

  • What do we mean by renewable energy?
  • What do we use energy for?
  • Why don’t we use renewable energy all the time?
  • What are the five types of renewable energy shown in the PowerPoint?
  • What other types of energy did you find out about in the PowerPoint?

 

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1

Using your notes to help, create an information poster about one type of renewable energy.

You could choose from the list below or come up with your own idea for a poster.

  • Types of renewable energy
  • Why renewable energy is important
  • Different types of energy

You can choose to design your poster using paper and pencils/felt pens or using a multimedia package.

 

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 4.
