Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils
For this activity you will need to watch a video which is the reading of the story “You’re called what?!” by Kes Gray and Nikki Dyson. (approximately seven minutes long.)The research will need to be completed online. The fact file can be completed on or offline.

Have you ever heard the story ‘You’re Called What?!’ by Kes Gray and Nikki Dyson? It’s a very funny story all about creatures with very odd, and at times unbelievable names.

Can you think of any other creatures with an unusual name?
You will be creating a fact file about a creature with an unusual name.
Remember a fact files include:
- Name
- Description of what the creature looks like
- Size/weight
- Habitat
- Diet
- Any other amazing facts
- Picture or drawing
Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity
Activity 1
In the story you heard about many different creatures with unusual names.
- Choose one of the creatures mentioned in the story or one of your own
- Research your chosen creature remember to make notes
- Create a fact file for your chosen creature.
Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 6.
Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:
Success criteria #1: I can research information about my chosen creature.
Success criteria #2: I can select relevant information from my research.
Success criteria #3: I can create a fact file.
