Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils

For this activity there is a video (approximately nine minutes), your child may have watched this video for a previous activity, however it would be beneficial for them to view again when choosing what aspect they want to research. Once you have chosen which aspect of Ancient Greek life you want to write about you will need to undertake research on this topic.

The main activity can be completed offline.

Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information

The activity is linked to the ancient Greeks and there is a video below for you to watch to get information and make notes.

Discuss what you have learnt from watching the video about the ancient Greeks. Choose one aspect of the life of ancient Greeks and undertake further research; you may wish to consider one of the following:

  • Fashion
  • Occupations
  • Wars
  • Economy
  • Culture
  • Transport

The activity is to write a factual piece/text on one aspect of the lives of the ancient Greeks. The purpose of a factual text is to inform the reader about a subject.

Features of a factual text include:

  • facts
  • technical language
  • features
  • headers and bold text to highlight sections
  • pictures/diagrams with labels can support the text by being a visual of what has been written

 

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1: Factual text

  • Read through your notes on the aspect of the ancient Greeks that you have chosen and organise them into sections.
  • Write a factual text on an aspect of the lives of the ancient Greeks.
  • Draw a picture of something linked to the aspect you have chosen on the ancient Greeks with labels (if applicable) to support your writing.

 

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.

Success criteria #3:  I can present my research findings.
