  • To know some of Ancient Greek mythical creatures.
  • To use imagination to create a mythical creature
  • To write a description of your mythical creature.

Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information

The Ancient Greeks told many stories known as myths. Many myths tell about brave heroes, great battles, mythical creatures, gods and goddesses.

Today we are going to find out about some of the mythical creatures. Read through the PowerPoint below.

 

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1

Think about the creatures that you have learnt about. You are going to create your own mythical creature.

  • Will your creature be:
    • A mix of different types of animals?
    • Half-human half animal?
    • Will they be a good or bad mythical creature?
    • What will they do?
  • Draw a picture of your mythical creature
  • Write a few sentences to describe your creature.
  • Don’t forget to give it a name.

 

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 5.

 

Step 4: Look over the success criteria for this activity:

Success criteria #1:  I can name some of the Ancient Greek mythical creatures.

Success criteria #2:  I can create my own mythical creature.

Success criteria #3:  I can write a description of my mythical creature.
