Learning Intentions:

  • To use imagination to create pictures.
  • To write a set of instructions.

Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils

The aim of this activity is to develop expressive art skills by carrying artwork using your own hands as a template.

There are two videos, the first is a story which is approximately three minutes and the second is an instructional video of up to five minutes.

The activities can be completed offline.

Now watch the video link explaining how to use hand shapes to produce several different animal images. Have a go at one or more of these. You do not need to watch the whole video; just watch as much as you need to to get some ideas.

 

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1

Have a go at making your own hand shape images

Use your imagination and be expressive.

Activity 2

Choose one of your drawings and write your own instructions for someone else to follow

  • Remember to be precise one step at a time.
  • Add each step to help them complete the picture.
  • Now follow your instructions to see if they work; amend if you need to.
  • Ask a family member to follow your instructions – how does their picture turn out?

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 4.
