Learning Intentions:

  • To create an informational slideshow on Adobe Spark about a popular 1960s band.

Step 1: Activity overview for parent, carers and pupils

This task will require the children to research and present their work online.

Step 2: Introduction to the activity and additional information

The 1960s saw the rise of popular music, now known as ‘pop music’.  The rock and roll age of Elvis Presley and Bill Haley and The Comets was taken over by popular music groups, such as The Beatles and The Beach Boys.Have a look at the pictures of some of the bands.  Do you recognise any? Ask your family members if they do.

Step 3: Tasks to carry out for this activity

Activity 1 – Creating a slideshow

  • Choose a band from the 1960s to research.
  • Create an Adobe Spark slideshow to inform the audience about them. You can choose a band from the list above or you can choose your own.

Ask your family members to help you choose – they may have favourite 1960s artist or band.

  • Research your chosen band.
  • In your presentation, you need to include these facts:
    • Name of band;
    • Names of band members;
    • When they formed;
    • Where they are from;
    • Genre (style) of music;
    • Some of their most famous songs (when they were released and their highest chart position);
    • Biggest selling album;
  • Your opinion of the band, your favourite song and why.
  • You can also choose to include other facts.

Now you have collected this information, you will need to begin your work.  ADOBE SPARK is on your Hwb account and it is free.

When you click onto Adobe Spark, you will need to select Slideshow.  This allows you to add pictures and voice over to your slideshow.

Now you can begin your slideshow on your chosen 1960s band.

Once you have completed the task you can email anything you create (photos, documents, screenshots etc.) directly to your teacher or directly upload it to any of the available places in Step 6.

Success criteria #1:  I can research a 1960s band.

Success criteria #2:  I can create an informational slideshow about the band using the features in Adobe Spark.

Success criteria #3:  I can speak clearly and use expression in my slideshow.
